Tom and Violet's Wedding is a transmedia extension of "The Five-Year Engagement," a film from Universal Pictures starring Jason Segel and Emily Blunt. The movie hits theaters on April 27, 2012, but this faux blog -- with posts and comments written in the voice of the characters -- will have new content several times a week from now until then.
Particularly interesting is that Universal Pictures is using this site as the primary online vehicle for the film. That's a change in strategy, since most movies utilize Flash websites that are more "marquee" style. I, for one, applaud the use of a more story-based, interactive site... and not just because I got to build it!
The site itself is fairly simplistic, as it's meant to emulate the kind of blog a couple of semi-tech savvy thirty-somethings would use to announce their engagement and document their journey to the altar. I worked off of design comps provided by the agency that hired me, and used mostly off-the-shelf plugins (with some style and output modifications.)
Anyway, I'm especially proud of this one, and very pleased to see the marketing department for a major motion picture release opt for a content-driven, story-based site to build their brand!
