look through the availbale themes - starting with http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ - to see if you can find a theme that matches your ideas; also use web search to search for 'magazine style wordpress theme' or similar.
without good php skills, it will be very difficult = virtually impossible, to edit a theme to do what you want.
